Semi-Conductor Fabrication
Semiconductor device fabrication is the process used to manufacture semiconductor devices, typically integrated circuits (ICs) such as microprocessors, microcontrollers, and memories (such as RAM and flash memory).
It involves several step chemical processes including thermal oxidation, thin-film deposition, ion-implantation and etching as part of the manufacturing process.
Silicon is almost always used, but various compound semiconductors are used for specialised applications.
The fabrication process is performed in semiconductor fabrication plants, also known as ‘fabs’ within “clean room” environment.
The manufacturing process can expose operators to some of the exotic type gasses requiring unique and specialised gas detection to ensure the safety of operators and high-level attainment and yield during the production process.
Safely monitoring the gases can be achieved by deploying a ‘Fixed’ gas detection system involving controllers and detectors often following a site survey by experienced gas detection professionals like ATEXIS Solutions Ltd.
